Falcons Youth V Australian Wanderers

On Monday 13th April the youth teams at Falcons Netball Club hosted the Australian Wanderers, a team on tour from down under. The girls were in the UK for ten days and visited many regions, playing teams from all over, before landing in Middlesex at Falcons’ home ground in Northwood.

Hosting the Australian Wanderers

The evening started off with the U14s and U16s matches. All players valued the opportunity to compete against international players and witness their individual style of play. Each match was very hotly contested with the final results standing as 32-20 in favour of the U14s away team and 28-21 to Falcons U16s.

The last match of the evening was the very exciting clash between the two U18s teams. Both teams went goal for goal until the final whistle which saw Falcons claim victory by just one. The final score stood at 31-32.

That evening the Wanderers spent time at the Falcons’ houses, gaining an insight into the lives of an English netballer, before being dropped back to the coach the following morning. Falcons’ Head Coach, Gemma Holland said “the opportunity to meet international players doesn’t happen that often and therefore it was really important for us to make this happen. The girls not only experienced how netball is played in another country, but also what it is like to live on the other side of the world. We would love to repeat this again next year.” All the girls thoroughly enjoyed the experience and thanked the girls for visiting.
